I almost swept this sweet little thing away earlier today. There are many birds nesting around my workplace, especially tree sparrows, yellowhammers and, like the pictured chick, white wagtails.

I suppose that it either had the misfortune of falling from the nest or thought that it was already time to go out into the big world, although it still couldn't fly. The parents were calling from the roof where I had often seen them during the last month, and where their nest probably is, so I tried to bring it back up — or else it would likely end up being crushed by a cow or eaten by the cats that are usually roaming around. I hoped that the parents would try to feed it but maybe it was already too weak. Sadly, it jumped down once again and when I came back a couple of hours later it was already dead. I'm a bit heartbroken.

What to do if you find a baby bird.
